Anyone who thinks that they have the “best practices” for online learning, distance education, educational technology, or anything similar is just blowing smoke. We’re nowhere near “best” as of yet, and maybe never will be.
I wouldn’t even mind if they said “good practices” or even “acceptable practices,” but forget about “best.”
So, every time I hear the term “best practices,” I flip a little switch in my brain that translates best practices into:
“Practices that don’t totally suck out loud!”
You should do it, too.
